ME, TE, NOS, A, AS, O, OS são PRONOMES OBLÍQUOS!
As you can see from the examples above, the Pronomes Oblíquos are related to object pronouns in English. The group of pronouns shown above are called Pronomes Oblíquos Átonos.
Take a look at the table below for reference:
The pronouns O, A, OS, AS are used to replace a noun that has already been mentioned before. Example:
Minha tia comprou um sofá novo, mas logo o vendeu para o vizinho (vendeu o sofá).
Onde você comprou esta saia? Eu a comprei no shopping (comprei a saia).
Take another look at the following sentence:
Eu preciso consultá-lo (o livro)The pronouns o, a, os, as (third person singular and plural) may be adapted after some verb terminations:1. When a verb ends in r (it is generally in the infinitive form after some other verb conjugated) we take out the last consonant and add L before the pronoun:
Eu preciso consultar o livro … eu preciso consultá-lo.
Eu quis ver os quadros … eu quis vê-los.
Eu pude ler o livro … Eu pude lê-lo.
Nós queremos conhecer a sua tia … Nós queremos conhecê-la.
Amanhã vamos visitar nossas clientes … Amanhã vamos visitá-las.Note: Traditionally, the same procedure should be applied for verbs ending in S or Z, but nowadays the rule is not widely used.
2. When a verb ends with nasal sound (usually ending in m) we add N before the pronoun:
Meus amigos viram os cantores … Meus amigos viram-nos.
Os diretores aprovaram o projeto … Os diretores aprovaram-no.
Pedro e Gisele estudaram a lição … Pedro e Gisele estudaram-na.
As mães vestiram as crianças … As mães vestiram-nas.
The pronouns O, A, OS, AS act as direct objects. LHE and LHES, on the other hand, work as indirect objects. Look at the examples:
Enviei a carta para você … Enviei-lhe a carta.
Vamos emprestar para vocês a nossa casa de praia … Vamos emprestar-lhes a nossa casa de praia.

Here is part of the lyrics of DIA BRANCO – a song by Geraldo Azevedo:
Se você vier pro que der e vier comigo
Eu te prometo o sol se hoje o sol sair
Ou a chuva se a chuva cair
Se você vier até onde a gente chegar
Numa praça na beira do mar
Um pedaço de qualquer lugar …
