About the Program
Program Description
Because of the nature of translator training, students have access to a wide spectrum of the faculty of the Spanish and Portuguese Department. The specifictranslation courses are taught by native speakers of the target language who are practicing translators. Special guest lecturers from the practicing community often participate in practical exercises and activities.
The Spanish Translation major provides pre-professional training in the theory and practice of translation and interpretation both for students planning to translate professionally and for students wishing to add translation and/or interpretation as an ancillary skill.

Editor notes
With translation courses being taught by native speakers of the target language, the language and translation courses at the Brigham Young University are a good choice for those wishing to specialize in these languages. A con is that there is only a translation course for the Spanish language.
