Video Remote Interpreting (VRI)
The speed of phone interpreting, with the visual presence of being there. Video remote interpreting connects you to a qualified interpreter by secure video on demand or by appointment — in more than 100 spoken languages and American Sign Language — for any encounter where seeing matters.

Operating to ISO 9001 and 17100 standards · Women-owned (WBENC), SAM.gov-registered · Qualified, trained interpreters · Spoken languages and ASL · Serving clients since 2005
Some conversations need more than a voice. A clinician needs to see the patient, a Deaf participant needs to see the interpreter sign, and a sensitive discussion goes better when people can read a face. Video remote interpreting delivers that visual presence without the cost and lead time of bringing an interpreter on-site: a qualified interpreter joins by secure video, on demand or scheduled, on the device or platform you already use. It is the fastest-growing mode of interpreting for good reason, and it is a core part of our broader interpretation services.
When video remote interpreting fits
VRI is the right choice whenever visual presence adds value or is required, and we see it relied on most in these situations:
- Sign language communication — ASL and other signed languages, which require a camera and cannot be done by phone.
- Healthcare and telehealth — clinical encounters where the provider benefits from seeing the patient.
- Remote meetings and proceedings — depositions, hearings, and interviews held by video.
- Visual context — situations where showing a document, a form, or an object aids understanding.
- On-demand and rare languages — fast access without travel, including for less common languages.
Why video over phone
Phone interpreting is fast and flexible, but a camera changes what is possible. Visual cues such as expression, gesture, and body language carry meaning that audio alone loses, which matters in emotional or high-stakes conversations and in building rapport with someone already anxious. Crucially, sign language interpreting simply cannot happen without video. And a camera lets the interpreter and the parties share a document or point to a form, so instructions and consent are clearer. When seeing helps, video is worth it; when it does not, our over-the-phone interpreting is the leaner choice.
Works on your platform or ours
We make VRI easy to adopt by fitting into how you already work. Interpreters can join the video platform your organization uses, or you can connect through a simple app on a tablet, phone, or a dedicated interpreting cart at the point of service. Sessions can be on-demand for unscheduled needs or booked in advance for appointments and proceedings, and we help you set up whichever model fits, including standing carts for clinics and quick-launch links for meetings. Either way, your staff get a qualified interpreter on screen with minimal friction.
Qualified interpreters, built for remote
Interpreting well on camera is its own discipline, and we staff for it. Our VRI interpreters are trained for remote work, experienced in their settings, and bound by codes of impartiality and confidentiality, and our sign language interpreters are qualified for the visual demands of ASL. They render communication completely and neutrally, manage turn-taking on video, and bring the same professionalism to a screen that they bring to a room, so the technology fades into the background and the conversation comes through.
Secure and reliable
Because VRI often carries health and personal information, security and reliability are built in. We support encrypted, privacy-conscious video and handle account data in the United States only, and we are glad to work within your healthcare and information-security requirements. We plan for connectivity too, with fallbacks so a dropped connection does not derail an encounter — including a quick switch to phone interpreting when a spoken-language session needs to continue without delay.
Languages, including ASL
We provide video interpreting in more than 100 languages plus American Sign Language. The most commonly requested spoken languages include Spanish, Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Russian, Korean, Haitian Creole, and Portuguese, with ASL central to our video service for Deaf and hard-of-hearing communication, and languages of lesser diffusion sourced on request.
Why organizations choose us
We are a family-run, women-owned (WBENC) firm, registered in SAM.gov, with more than two decades of interpreting experience across healthcare, legal, government, education, and business. We deliver in-house rather than brokering, coordinate video, phone, and on-site interpreting through one accountable team, and bring trained, confidential interpreters to every screen. Frequently asked questions
Do you provide ASL through video remote interpreting?
Yes. Sign language requires a camera, and ASL is central to our VRI service, with interpreters qualified for the visual demands of signed communication.
Can interpreters join our existing video platform?
Yes. Interpreters can join the platform you already use, or you can connect through a simple app on a tablet, phone, or interpreting cart.
Is VRI on-demand or scheduled?
Both. We offer on-demand video for unscheduled needs and scheduled sessions for appointments and proceedings, and help you set up whichever model fits.
Is video remote interpreting secure for healthcare?
We support encrypted, privacy-conscious video, handle account data in the United States only, and work within your healthcare and information-security requirements.
Does VRI reduce interpreting costs?
Often, yes. Video removes travel time and on-site minimums while keeping visual presence, so it can cover more encounters at lower cost, with on-site reserved for the longest or most sensitive sessions.
Which languages do you cover?
More than 100 languages plus American Sign Language, including Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Russian, and Korean, with languages of lesser diffusion on request.
